I really enjoyed working on this kitchen project. Not only is this home located in the same neighbourhood I grew up in, but my client is also the little sister to one of my life-long friends. When I visited their home for the first time, it was apparent why they bought the property. The view to Fish Creek Park out their back windows is breathtaking. I knew that whatever direction we took for the design, we had to focus our attention out those back windows.

What made this project even more fun was the fact that this young couple wasn’t afraid to use colour. Although the backdrop was neutral, we added a pop of blue on the island to make it stand out. The white backdrop and dark flooring was intentional. We wanted to give the space a museum feel to allow our client’s stunning artwork collection shine, and draw the eyes out towards the natural beauty of the park beyond.

What used to be a very dated, dysfunctional space, has now transformed into a hub where this family can thrive and grow for years to come.
